Monday morning photo. 23/4/07.
G'day Rick, Roly, out on the Eyre Peninsula this week. Travelled there via Sydney for the end of the Camden tram, maybe that could be next weeks subject. Then the very interesting trip through Broken Hill and Peterborough to Port Augusta. Then it was Ma Birdseye's bus to Port Lincoln. I recollect it being a Bedford SB, I could be wrong here, with heaped roof rack and mailbags stacked in the aisle.
Anyway, enough of this boring preamble, T180 is at the head of the fortnightly goods bound for Mount Hope, there is a gin behind the tender and the cattle wagon contained a bloody great pig. The rake of open wagons will go to Mount Hope to be loaded with bagged wheat. There were silos on the Port Lincoln Division but at this time, January 1963, quite a bit of the crop came out in hessian bags.
Regards,
Peter Bruce.
