British style, I see. Didn't Oz also have some roundhouses a la N America practice?
Pete, there was no standard loco depot in Australia but Victoria was the only one to have these Cathedrals, North Melbourne had three 70' turntables, Ballaarat East had two and Bendigo and Maryborough each had one. All the states had roundhouses and straight through British style running sheds and all sorts of variations.

The attached photo is of Peterborough Loco. Depot in the Mid-North of South Australia. The Peterborough Division was 3'6". During the 1920s the South Australian Railways appointed as Chief Commissioner W.A.Webb from the Katy so there was quite a bit of US influence evident there. Unfortunately the Great Depression and the Second War halted his plans. I'll post some SAR photos as evidence in the near future as Monday Morning Photos.
Regards and all the best for Christmas and the New Year,
Peter Bruce.
